Old Books

I really don't know much about books. But yesterday was book day as we prepared for the estate sale on September 30. There are some really old ones for sale. Some old youth novels from the 40's.
I found a beautiful 1856 Common Book of Prayer.

There should be some bargains for the old book lover.

I'm Back

Did you notice I was gone?

I just got back from a big trip out west to see the grandchildren! They were great! I really racked up some mileage - 1450 each way. Whew!!!

John kept the store while I was gone. We call him Honest John around here. The store looks great. He's been working hard while I've been traveling.

 We're still unpacking boxes.

We are Here! At Last!

We've done it. We are moved. We even have a phone and internet! After a week on the phone with AT&T we are really all moved to 33 E. Main.

The organization of the inventory is still wanting but that will take time.

We are cool and comfortable as we work at unpacking and arranging.

A little rough but still good stuff to buy.

No Phone!!!

We're moved into our Maine Street Shop now. Guess what!! Ma Bell messed up my request for service and did not sent a man out to reconnect all the wires hanging loose out there.

We just put a recording on the old phone and will have to make do until Thursday.

New pictures tonight on the blog. Since I have to internet at the shop now.

Moving to 33 E. Main St.

We started the big move yesterday July 1.

Our phones get moved Tuesday July 5.

All but one of our vendors are moved to  33 E. Main right now!!! So it is going much faster than I thought possible. Thanks to Jim and Louise, Adam W. and Adam J. and Robert and Scottie and Christine and her Dad.

We haven't really been sure how long it would take to get moved. I think I can safely say we will completely be in the new store by Tuesday afternoon.

We'll be packing pink glass and dolls this morning for the move.

Creating a retail space

Last weekend Larry and John worked on the old floor. This store was at one time a Western Auto. It was a florist shop when we moved to Hohenwald.
Over such a long life there is a bunch of wear and tear on the old floor. We just have to be sure you can wheel furniture across it. So the guys have been patching it up. You'll probably never see the patching once we move in cuz we like oriental carpets. A lot.

The picture rail on the wall will really come in handy for hanging mirrors and pictures. I think. We'll find out for sure as the new space gets filled up.
The moving will begin at the end of this week.
Don't forget, though, we are open for business.
33 E. Main, Hohenwald, TN

As a matter of fact, I just put cookie jars on sale. 30% off.

These jars have been out of reach above the front counter but are now down at eye level since we moved the shelf they sat on.

Come in and get one while they last.

Memory Junction is going up town Day 21

Scotty and Adam were doing the last of the painting yesterday

Day 20 at Memory Junction

I am back from the Nashville flea market. We had a lot of fun. We set up in the Wilson Building. The Wilson Building used to be the puppy or dog trading place. No more! The fair has redone the building beautifully. So the thunderstorms didn't bother us a bit. The crowds we a little thin because of that. No need to stay home though. The market, at this point in it's rebirth, is mostly under roof. Pretty nice!

Don't worry Charlie, Peggy et al. We'll be back! Especially if charlie plays that old boogie woogie on his boom box!

I sold some of my most outstanding embroidery and quilts there.

While I was in Nashville the store's moving sale was in full swing. John (my honey Honest J.) was busy as a bee making deals. We have plenty left in the store, though.

Sunday Honest John and Larry repaired the wood floor at 33 W. Main.

Day 13

This is about as exciting as watching the paint dry. Which, by the way, is what's going on in our new space.

So I brought flowers to cheer up our current store.
It's hard to believe that the new space will look similar. We're excited to start but - hey- change takes time.

Get a load of this! I just brought is a brush McCoy peacock in the garden yellow ware pitcher.

We still have plenty of bargains left. Come see.

This is what they saw

We're all busy with plans for the move!

We're still open on Maple street

Come by 27 S. Maple in Hohenwald and do a little shopping!! We're full of great antiques and collectibles!
Every cabinet and shelf and nook and cranny has something!! Old, beautiful, odd or interesting.

Day 2

Today we are knocking out walls and partitions. The shop is essentially square so by knocking down partitions the entire retail floor will be visible from one spot.
We are increasing usable space
Antique furniture eats up floor space so we need as much as possible!

Can't wait to use these great window on Main

I think our antiques will really show well here!!!

Moving to a new retail space

We've actually done it! We have given the verbal handshake to the new land lord and we are moving our shop to Main Street.
We want to document the progress we make and share.
Today we will have the lock smith over to get new locks.
We will be sure to get a set of keys to our landlord ASAP so that he can begin his preparations: Clean and repair ceiling fans and lights, service heating and air conditioning and repair broken places in the antique floor. I thinks the space was originally a hardware store and it has a really great old stained and worn floor.
